Monument Group

Monument Group is an independent placement agent and secondaries advisory firm. It works with general partners raising private funds from institutional investors, and with limited partners using the secondary market for liquidity, portfolio management, and strategic objectives.

The work falls into three lines. As placement agent, the firm raises capital for general partners from institutional investors. On the secondary side, it partners with limited partners selling fund interests. Its advisory practice works with general partners on single-asset and multi-asset continuation funds, tender offers, and structured solutions, and the firm also acts as a sounding board on fund positioning and market practice.

The firm has raised private funds from institutional investors since 1994 and is partner-owned, which it describes as keeping it unbiased and conflict-free. It has 17 partners averaging 28 years of industry experience and works from Boston, London, Amsterdam, and Tokyo, with a European investor coverage team and coverage responsibilities that extend to the Middle East. Monument Group, Inc. is a member of FINRA and SIPC; Monument Group Europe LLP is authorised and regulated by the FCA; Monument Group, L.P. is licensed as a Type II Financial Instruments Dealer by Japan's FSA; and Monument Group Netherlands B.V. is regulated by the AFM.

Fees are not published, and the firm describes taking on select, non-competing assignments. A manager should ask which Monument entity would sign the engagement, since the regulatory status and the covering team differ by region.
