Underwriting & analysis

Valuate by REFM

Real Estate Financial Modeling (REFM) sells Valuate, its browser-based property analysis software, alongside Excel-based models and tools, training and certification programs, and consulting and auditing work on clients' own models.

The training side is structured as self-study: a Foundations of Real Estate course, an Excel for Real Estate certification and the REFAI certification, supported by a textbook and a blog, Model for Success, that publishes free build-along Excel tutorials. Corporate and university training is sold separately, and a product chooser on the site routes a buyer to the right offering.

The consulting practice builds and audits Excel-based investment tools for client teams; the references published on the site come from developer and contractor finance groups that had REFM produce models deployed across their organisations. Customers are grouped as individuals, corporate and non-profit, and college and university, and discounted academic and U.S. military pricing is advertised.

Prices are not published on the pages that render publicly. Confirm what a Valuate subscription covers for the asset type being underwritten, and whether the Excel tools are sold separately from the software, before buying.

Best for

Analysts and small shops that want browser-based underwriting together with structured Excel training and certification. A buyer who only needs a finished deal model may not need the training and certification side.
