The Huneycutt Group

The Huneycutt Group, which trades as THG Insurance, is an independent agency in Wilmington, North Carolina with a second office in Carolina Beach. It places coverage with multiple carriers for households and businesses across the Carolinas, and the weight of the site is coastal: homeowners, flood and wind cover for beach and ocean-front homes, alongside auto, boat, motorcycle, personal watercraft and RV policies.

The commercial side is a real line of business rather than an afterthought — the team page lists a commercial lines manager, a commercial lines producer and a commercial lines account manager, and the products page names business owner policies, commercial liability, vacation rental property cover, homeowners association policies and inland marine. Title insurance is offered through an agency it acquired, aimed at the real estate agents, mortgage brokers and home builders it already works with. The agency says it will work by email, phone, fax, text or face to face, and its FAQ walks through the practical points coastal owners run into: whether an inspection is required and what inspectors look for, what happens when an inspection turns up an issue, why a renewal premium rose, escrowed premiums, deductible options and what flood damage a home policy does not cover.

Its roots go back over 40 years, beginning in the Outer Banks as a coastal products provider, and much of the growth since has come by acquisition: OBX Insurance Agency in 2009, Sound Insurance Agency in 2011, Seaside Insurance Agency in 2012 and Blackacre Title Insurance Agency in 2014. It says it has served the Carolinas for over 15 years from its current coastal offices, which cover Wrightsville Beach, Topsail Beach and Surf City, and Carolina Beach.

The agency states it has grown to provide products across many different states, which does not match a single-state listing, so an owner outside North Carolina should ask which states its carriers are appointed in before assuming coverage is available.
