Standard Solar

Standard Solar develops, funds, owns, and operates commercial and community solar projects, including solar paired with battery storage. Its hosts and partners include businesses, institutions, farms, governments, utilities, schools, and community solar subscribers, and it takes a project on as a developer, an EPC consultant, a funding source, a long-term owner-operator, or some combination of those.

Work runs along four lines. Development and EPC consulting puts its engineers and NABCEP-certified installation professionals alongside a project team to review proposed technology, run vendors and products through a qualification process, and join pre-construction planning. Long-term asset ownership moves the risks and complexities of owning the system off the host. Funding and acquisitions covers tax equity and debt financing, development capital, and the purchase of completed projects. Asset management, O&M, and SREC trading cover the operating life.

The company was founded in 2004 as a residential installer and regional EPC, and delivered its first major commercial project, a 205kW roof-mounted system for the Department of Energy headquarters, in 2008. Its portfolio now exceeds 500 MW owned, operated, and under construction across more than 20 states and the District of Columbia, and it reports more than 200 commercial and community solar and solar-plus-storage projects developed, delivered, funded, acquired, or operated. Brookfield acquired the company in September 2022.

The site does not publish power purchase agreement or lease rates; terms are set per project. Ask which role the company would take on a specific site, since development, ownership, and O&M are contracted separately.
