Kiosks
OpenTech Alliance
OpenTech Alliance is a self-storage technology company based in Phoenix, Arizona. It was founded in July 2003 after its founder purchased a patent for a self-service system that rented storage units and processed customer payments, and it now describes a portfolio of 10+ products built specifically for self storage.
The hardware and software side covers INSOMNIAC self-service kiosks; INSOMNIAC CIA cloud-based access control with mobile access, gate keypads, a command center and a portfolio app; INSOMNIAC SmartLock electronic unit locks that retrofit onto existing hasps or replace them and are rated IP56 for outdoor conditions; unit monitoring sensors that alert on unauthorized entry; the INSOMNIAC OpenNet wireless mesh network for site-wide connectivity; and INSOMNIAC SmartEye, an AI-based security monitoring service.
The services side is the other half of the business. The INSOMNIAC Live! call center staffs trained storage counselors who take payments, reserve rentals and answer tenant questions, integrating in real time with major property management software; the company says it supports over 2,200 storage facilities, from REITs to single-facility operators, from US-based offices. Uniti AI voice agents handle inbound calls around the clock with escalation to a human. StorageTreasures runs online lien auctions, with auction review services alongside.
Milestones the company publishes include the first kiosk sale in 2004, the call center in 2009, a majority stake in StorageTreasures in 2016, cloud access control and SmartEye in 2018, and expansion into Europe in 2023. It reported a dispersed staff of over 200 employees with more than 120 at the Phoenix corporate office, and says it supports more than 17,000 facilities worldwide.
