Openpath

Openpath's cloud access control is now sold under the Avigilon brand, an Avigilon and Motorola Solutions product line. The access control range covers door readers and intercoms, boards, controllers and hubs, and management either in the cloud or on premise, with Avigilon Alta as the cloud family and Avigilon Unity as the on-premise one.

The design point is that access control and video are not separate systems. Avigilon connects video management, access control, intrusion detection, sensors and third-party systems on one platform, with AI analytics that surface the events needing attention and cut the time spent searching recorded video. Sites can be deployed straight to the cloud, run on premise under cloud management, or bridged with cloud connectors during a transition.

The company markets the systems to commercial real estate and multi-family residential among other sectors, including schools, healthcare, banking, gyms, automotive dealerships and critical infrastructure, and publishes buyer guides on access control, cameras and sensors. Motorola Solutions' wider ecosystem adds license plate recognition, body cameras, concealed weapons detection and the Orchestrate workflow automation tool.

The product is sold through integrators and partners, and no pricing is published; cost turns on door count, hardware and deployment model. Avigilon also publishes a discontinued products list, so confirm what an existing Openpath installation maps to before extending it.
