Compliance training

Nan McKay & Associates

Nan McKay & Associates (NMA) is a training and consulting firm for affordable housing. It works with public housing authorities, multifamily and tax credit owners and managers, and municipalities, and has been in operation since 1980 as a woman-owned company.

Agency consulting covers Administrative Plan and ACOP review and revision, Housing Quality Standards inspections, case management, PIC data analysis, procurement policy work, and financial services ranging from operating subsidy forms and FDS preparation to interim finance director support and temporary accounting staff. Remote services take on recertification backlogs: annual and interim recertifications, rent increases, rent reasonableness determinations, EIV reporting, PIC corrections and quality control review, worked in the agency's own software and under its own admin plan.

NMA also sells training and products, including classes on HCV financial management, financial accounting and reporting and rent calculation, a model administrative plan and ACOP, model policies for HUD's project-based rental assistance program, and rent reasonableness and waitlist software. Multifamily and LIHTC clients are offered MOR readiness reviews, model tenant selection plans, EIV policies, custom policies for RAD conversions, and PBRA and LIHTC training and certification. A separate practice administers disaster recovery grants, including CDBG-DR and emergency rental assistance.

The company reports over 600 full-time and contract employees, offices in six states, administration of more than 100,000 vouchers, and more than 300,000 inspections a year for more than forty housing agencies and municipalities. Pricing is not published: class schedules and a product order form are on the site, and consulting is quoted per engagement.
