Compliance training

NAA Education Institute (NAAEI)

The NAA Education Institute (NAAEI) is the education and credentialing arm of the National Apartment Association, run from NAA's Arlington, Virginia office. Its stated mission is to provide broad-based education, training and recruitment programs that attract, develop and retain people in the rental housing industry.

Training is delivered online and in the classroom. Candidates can search for an NAAEI credential course in their own area, and Visto, the online learning platform, carries training, credentials and continuing education credit (CEC) courses. The NAAEI Career Map sets out the skills and experience needed at each level of a residential property management career.

NAAEI's programs are listed as industry credentials, leadership development and the Alex Jackiw Scholarship. It is governed by its own board and an executive committee of President, President-Elect, Treasurer/Secretary and Immediate Past President, with Vice President elections held every other year at Apartmentalize; board applicants must work for an NAA member company and show NAAEI volunteer service in the five years before applying. NAA itself reports 139 state and local affiliates and over 113,000 members representing more than 13.7 million apartment homes.

Courses run through local NAA affiliates, and neither course fees nor renewal costs are published centrally, so confirm with the affiliate which credential courses it offers in your market and what they cost.

Best for

Rental housing staff and owners who want an industry credential or continuing education credits through their local NAA affiliate. It sells training, not advice on a specific property or a specific compliance problem.
