Moreton & Company is a privately owned independent insurance brokerage placing commercial property and casualty, employee benefits, surety and contract bonds, cyber, executive risk, and personal lines coverage. Its clients range from small businesses to publicly traded corporations and government entities.

The work goes past placement. The firm runs loss prevention and exposure analysis, locally domiciled captive programs for both commercial insurance and employee benefits, an in-house wellness team with a network of vendors, and voluntary benefits programs. Its executive risk department works only on management and professional liability lines, coordinating policies across carriers, identifying coverage gaps, and comparing policies whose terms and conditions are proprietary to each carrier.

The firm was founded in 1910 to serve surety needs in the growing Salt Lake Valley and has grown from two employees to over 240 team members in three offices: Salt Lake City, Utah; Boise, Idaho; and Denver, Colorado. It describes itself as the Intermountain West's largest independent insurance broker, ranks #64 on Business Insurance magazine's Top 100 Brokers, and is the only Utah member of Assurex Global, a partnership of independent brokers. Its clients have employees and operations across all 50 states, and the Colorado office names recreation and tourism, cannabis, agriculture, and technology as local specialisms.

Commission and fee arrangements are not published. An owner outside Utah, Idaho, or Colorado should confirm which office would service the account and what the Assurex relationship covers locally, since those three offices are the firm's only listed locations.
