Michigan Association of RVs & Campgrounds (MARVAC)
The Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) is the state trade association for the recreation vehicle and private campground industries in Michigan. Members include private campgrounds, RV manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, financial and lending institutions, insurance companies and special service firms. MARVAC is a division of the Michigan Manufactured Housing, RV and Campground Association, a non-profit state trade association; the two divisions have separate boards, with an executive board of three representatives from each governing the whole.
Advocacy is the core of the membership. MARVAC monitors legislation affecting campgrounds, RV dealerships and outdoor tourism, works with state legal and legislative consultants, and maintains direct access to state agencies including the Secretary of State, DNR, EGLE, MDOT and Treasury. It holds national memberships with the Recreational Vehicle Dealer Association and the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association and feeds member input to federal regulators through them.
On the marketing side, members receive a complimentary listing in the annual Michigan RV & Campgrounds Directory, of which upwards of 60,000 copies are printed and distributed each year at RV and campground shows, Michigan Welcome Centers, state parks and other targeted networks; paid advertising in the directory and on the website is available separately. MARVAC runs consumer RV and camping shows, including the Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show, and its staff act as a referral service for members who need insurance, legal counsel, an architect, an engineer or another service firm. Staff are reachable Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 517.349.3300.
Campground dues are published on the membership application: $230.00 a year for 50 sites or less, $280.00 for 51-100 sites and $305.00 for 101 and above. Applications are downloaded as a PDF or requested from member services, and mailed to MARVAC at 2222 Association Drive, Okemos, MI 48864. The association now publishes at michiganrvandcampgrounds.org.
Best for
Michigan private campground and RV park owners who want state-level advocacy plus a listing in the directory handed out at shows and welcome centers. It does not help park owners outside Michigan.
