McAdams is a full service planning, design, and engineering firm. Its disciplines cover civil and site design, land planning and entitlement, landscape architecture, geomatics and surveying, water resources, transportation, urban planning and design, stream and wetland design, grant funding, and construction administration.

Entitlement work extends to full project management and expediting through the approval process. On a cold storage development in Denton, Texas, the firm was contracted to complete pre-development approvals on an accelerated timeline, facilitating all city approvals through to the issuance of building permits and managing the project team's deadlines.

The firm was founded in 1979 and is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, with offices across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas, including Lewisville and Denton in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro. It is licensed to practice engineering in 27 named states, from Alabama and Arizona through Washington and West Virginia.

Fees are project-based. Each service line has its own named leadership and the firm has grown by acquisition, announcing the purchase of AVID Group, so which office and which discipline lead will run a project is worth establishing at the outset.
