Louisiana Manufactured Housing Association
The Louisiana Manufactured Housing Association (LMHA) is a nonprofit trade association formed in 1966 to preserve and promote the manufactured and modular housing industry in the state of Louisiana. Its membership is made up of manufactured housing builders, retailers and suppliers in and around the state.
The association's stated mission is to make factory-built housing Louisiana's affordable choice for home buying, and much of its public-facing work is consumer education. The site carries a retailer locator, explainers on what factory-built housing is and how manufactured and modular homes differ, and an FAQ covering the HUD Code, construction quality, financing, insurance, siting limits, appreciation, and fire and storm performance.
For members, the association runs continuing education courses and an annual meeting. Listed sessions include retailer and developer continuing education in New Orleans and by Zoom, installer continuing education in Baton Rouge, and the 2026 LMHA Annual Meeting on 14 to 15 October 2026. The site also maintains a page of governmental contacts and important links, and a member login area.
Membership categories, dues and benefits sit behind the join page rather than being published. The association's office is at 4847 Revere Avenue, Baton Rouge, with a phone number of (800) 324-7833.

Common questions
- How is a manufactured home different from a site-built home?
- A manufactured home is constructed entirely in a controlled factory environment to the federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards, known as the HUD Code, in single or multi-section form, then transported to the site and installed to the manufacturer's guidelines. A site-built home is built on site to local or state building code. The association notes estimates that more than 90 percent of today's manufactured homes never move from their original site.
- Why should a buyer consider a manufactured home?
- The association states that, depending on the region of the country, construction costs per square foot for a new manufactured home average anywhere from 10 to 35 percent less than a comparable site-built home, excluding the cost of land.
