Lob

Lob is a direct mail automation platform: software and APIs for creating, personalising, routing and tracking physical mail, backed by a print and delivery network. Customers trigger postcards, letters, checks and other formats from their own systems and track each piece through to delivery.

Mail is produced through Lob's nationwide Print Delivery Network of audited printer partners, and its Postal IQ routing chooses a USPS entry point for each mailpiece to shorten delivery time and stabilise postage costs. The platform includes campaign tools and a template gallery, address verification for US and international addresses, no-code integrations, webhooks and API integrations, in-transit tracking, an analytics dashboard and audit-ready PDFs. On security, Lob encrypts data with TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest, offers single sign-on via SAML 2.0 and role-based access controls on enterprise plans, provides audit and API request logs, hosts on AWS, and says it aligns with SOC 2 and HIPAA and audits its printer network.

Pricing is published and tiered by annual mailing volume, with print and postage billed on top. The Developer plan is $0 a month for up to 6,000 mailings and one user; the small business plan starts at $260 a month for up to 75,000 mailings and three users; Growth starts at $550 a month for up to 150,000 mailings and five users; Enterprise is custom for 150,000+ mailings with 20+ users, specialty formats and account management. Per-piece rates fall with the plan: postcards start at $0.905 on Developer and $0.615 on Growth, letters at $0.828 and $0.628, checks at $1.190 and $1.040. US address verification is $0.05 per additional lookup on Developer, with bundles on higher tiers.

The company says it serves 12,000+ companies, has delivered more than 1 billion mailpieces, has raised $82.3M and runs a carbon-neutral operation. Because the plan limits are annual rather than monthly, a mailer that sends in large seasonal drops should check which tier the yearly total lands in, and confirm which rates apply to the specific format before comparing with a local printer.

Best for

Teams that want to trigger postcards, letters or checks from their own systems and track them, at volumes from a few thousand to well over 150,000 pieces a year. Plans are sized by annual volume, so occasional senders start free.
