Johnson Inspection Services, LLC inspects wells and septic systems for real estate transactions in central and south-central Michigan, working with realtors, buyers and sellers on rural residential and commercial property.

The company started in 1996 in septic installation, septic pumping and portable toilet rental for the construction trade, and added inspection work in 1997 as demand in the region grew. Alongside well and septic evaluations it does water testing, well performance check-ups, septic troubleshooting and septic system locating. A well check-up looks at the construction of the well and its isolation distances, among other items; troubleshooting covers baffles and drain-field condition; locating flags a system before a remodel, pool or pole barn goes in.

It reports more than 25,000 inspections completed. It is certified in and services Ionia, Clinton, Shiawassee, Barry, Eaton, Ingham, Livingston, Calhoun and Jackson counties, and is point-of-sale approved in Ingham and Shiawassee counties. Well evaluations are FHA, VA and RD approved, and water testing includes E. coli; the site cites the EPA recommendation to test well water every one to two years.
