Indiana Manufactured Housing Association / RV Indiana Council

The Indiana Manufactured Housing Association-Recreation Vehicle Indiana Council (IMHA-RVIC) is an association of individuals and firms whose stated purpose is to serve its members and enhance the growth of industry products and services through governmental, educational and promotional programs, and to protect and promote the general welfare of the manufactured housing and RV industries. Membership covers manufactured home manufacturers, retailers and communities, RV manufacturers, retailers and campgrounds, finance and insurance firms, suppliers and service firms.

For community owners the concrete draw is installer licensing. Indiana law requires each installation of a manufactured home to be completed by a licensed manufactured housing installer, and a licence requires classroom education mandated by the Indiana Manufactured Housing Installer Licensing Board before an installer applies to the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. The association states it is currently the only state-approved provider of installer licensing education classes, offers those classes online, and publishes a Find a Licensed MH Installer directory.

Other member resources include legislative activity tracking, tools for finding federal and state representatives, affiliated organisations, and separate membership applications by business type for MH communities, MH retailers, MH service firms, RV dealers, RV service firms, campgrounds and finance or insurance firms. A members-only area lets members update their information and register for events, and a basic membership list is public.

The association was formed in 1945 when 18 mobile home builders created the Indiana Mobile Home Association, and was renamed as the recreation vehicle industry diverged from the mobile home industry. It now reports over 400 members throughout the state, with all activities coordinated through the state office at 3210 Rand Road in Indianapolis. Dues are not published.

Common questions

Who is allowed to install a manufactured home in Indiana?
Indiana law requires each installation of a manufactured home to be completed by a licensed manufactured housing installer. To get that licence, an individual must complete classroom education mandated by the Indiana Manufactured Housing Installer Licensing Board, then apply through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. IMHA-RVIC states it is currently the only state-approved provider of that education.
