Fundrise

Fundrise is a direct-to-consumer private markets manager. Individuals invest through its website or app into funds Fundrise itself manages, covering real estate, private credit and venture capital, rather than into deals sponsored by outside operators.

An investor answers a short questionnaire and receives a recommended portfolio. The platform advertises low fees, flexible minimums and quarterly liquidity, and says it takes no promote or carried interest. Its venture fund, VCX, is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Fundrise says it spent more than 10 years building its own investor servicing, fund management and asset management software in place of spreadsheets and third-party vendors.

The company says more than 2 million people invest through it, that it is among the 50 largest real estate private equity investors in the world by annual deployment, having deployed more than $1 billion a year in 2021 and 2022, and that its real estate portfolio is largely 20,000+ residential units plus e-commerce-oriented industrial assets. Its office is at Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C.

Fundrise raises capital for its own funds and is not a source of capital for outside sponsors. Every performance figure and ranking on the site carries a footnote about method and date, and the company states plainly that past performance does not indicate future results and that any investment may lose value.
