Construction lenders
Forbright Bank
Forbright Bank runs two businesses: nationwide middle-market commercial lending, and a digital consumer bank built around savings accounts and certificates of deposit. Its commercial lending covers construction, bridge and transitional commercial real estate, with healthcare, multifamily and sustainability-focused borrowers a stated focus.
Commercial borrowers deal with a lending team and a loan portal rather than a branch network, and the bank also offers advisory and fee services and asset management. Consumer accounts are opened and managed online; business banking and commercial loan customers each have their own login.
Forbright says it has provided approximately $20 billion of financing to date and reports $1 million of corporate contributions across 67 nonprofits, with figures stated as of June 30, 2026. Its branches sit in the Washington, D.C. area: Chevy Chase, Potomac and North Bethesda in Maryland, plus a service hub in McLean, Virginia, all open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern. Deposits are FDIC-insured up to established limits.
Deposit rates move and carry footnotes: at crawl time the bank advertised 3.85% APY on Growth Savings and up to 3.75% APY on a Growth CD. Commercial loan pricing is not published at all, so terms have to come from the lending team.
Best for
Middle-market borrowers financing construction, bridge or transitional commercial property nationally, and savers who want a high-rate online account. Retail customers who want a branch outside the Washington, D.C. area will not find one.
