Florida Self Storage Association

The Florida Self Storage Association is a non-profit trade association for self-storage owners and operators in Florida, marking its 25th anniversary. Its stated mission is to promote the concept of self storage and the businesses of its members while monitoring legislation and acting as the industry's voice.

Members get advocacy updates and Florida lien law coverage, education and networking, the FSSA Quarterly Magazine, and an online store of association publications. The association's advocacy record includes working with the national SSA to update Florida's outdated lien law in 2015. Its main event is the FSSA Executive Summit, held October 20-21, 2026 at Le Meridien Tampa, and it runs a Manager of the Year award recognizing property managers at member companies.

The association is managed by the SSA in Alexandria, Virginia, with the executive director based in Panama City, Florida, and a local Florida board of directors that tracks issues in the state. Members elect that board: nominations are open to members in good standing, with five seats carrying a three-year term from January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2029 and three alternate non-voting seats for one year.

Membership dues are not published here. Note also that the association does not mediate disputes between operators and tenants.

Best for

Florida self-storage owners, operators, and property managers who want lien law and legislative updates, state-level networking, and the annual summit. It is not a route for tenants with a complaint about a facility.

Who can run for the FSSA board?
Any FSSA member in good standing. Only members may nominate candidates, and members are permitted to nominate themselves.
