CBRE Capital Markets (Debt & Structured Finance)
CBRE Capital Markets' Debt & Structured Finance group arranges debt for commercial property owners and investors. It is among the largest Fannie Mae DUS, Freddie Mac Optigo and HUD/FHA multifamily lenders and also places bridge, life company and CMBS debt. Within CBRE Multifamily the group sits alongside investment properties, investment banking, loan servicing and valuation.
Financing is delivered through that multifamily platform rather than a standalone desk. CBRE says one call connects a client to local coverage and to buyer and capital relationships in other markets, and the same teams handle acquisitions and dispositions, portfolio planning and sales, valuations, property marketing and market research. The practice page states it works at any scale, from a $5 million asset to a $5 billion portfolio.
CBRE Group, Inc. is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and reports results quarterly. The firm says it has clients in more than 100 countries, including nearly 90 of the Fortune 100, and that CBRE has ranked first in U.S. multifamily sales every year since 2011.
Loan programs, sizing and which CBRE office would cover a given asset are set deal by deal, and none of that is published. Confirm terms and coverage with the local Debt & Structured Finance team rather than assuming the national figures apply to a specific property.
Best for
Owners and sponsors financing institutional-scale multifamily and commercial assets, from a single mid-sized property up to a national portfolio. Borrowers wanting a one-off small local loan are usually better served by a community lender.
