California Outdoor Hospitality Association
California Outdoor Hospitality Association is the trade association for owners and operators of RV parks and campgrounds, describing its membership as reaching across the Western United States. It provides member promotion, education, cost-saving programs and legislative advocacy.
Member programs include a Park Manager Training Program, education and networking events, guidance on removals and evictions, a summit for members, and marketing through Camp-California, the association's marketing arm, which prints an annual camping guide and runs a consumer camping website and public relations campaign promoting member parks. Partner organisations listed on the site include the American Glamping Association, the RV Industry Association and the California Travel Association, alongside supplier partners in insurance, wifi, decking, water technology and park marketing.
The association began in 1975 as the California Travel Parks Association, formed by 30 park owners, and was renamed the California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds in 2008, CampCalNOW in 2019 and California Outdoor Hospitality Association in 2022. It says it serves nearly 300 members across multiple states and works with over 50 supplier partners. Its legislative record includes two sets of Title 25 rewrites, legalising park model RVs, allowing submetering of electricity, the RV Occupancy Law and reduced time-stay limitations. Camp-California Marketing was spun off as a subsidiary in 2002.
The association also acts as a route to the regulator: it explains that RV parks and campgrounds fall under the California Department of Housing and Community Development's Division of Codes and Standards, which administers the Special Occupancy Parks Act, that local jurisdictions can apply to assume that authority, and that a park must hold a permit to operate from HCD or from the local jurisdiction granted authority. Dues are not published; membership information is requested through the site.
Best for
California RV park and campground owners who want state-level advocacy, HCD and Title 25 guidance, manager training and consumer marketing through Camp-California. Less useful to owners outside the Western states it covers.
