ButterflyMX is a property access and security platform built around a smartphone app. One system brings together video intercoms, cloud-based access control, security cameras, keypads, vehicle access, package rooms, smart locks, elevator controls and visitor management for multifamily, commercial, student housing and gated communities.

Hardware includes video intercom panels in surface and recessed models, access controllers and mullion, keypad and single-gang readers that install over most existing access control systems and need only power and an internet connection. Residents, staff and visitors enter using the mobile app, a six-digit PIN, fobs and key cards, or a QR code that launches a web-based intercom with no app required. An online dashboard manages credentials and permissions remotely and stores date- and time-stamped entry records for 365 days, and the platform integrates with property management software to grant or revoke access automatically for move-ins, move-outs, visitor access and self-guided tours.

ButterflyMX was founded in 2014 and says more than 20,000 properties and more than 2 million people use its products, with more than 100,000 five-star ratings on its mobile app and connections to more than 80 smart lock styles and finishes.
