BSB Design

BSB Design is an architecture, engineering and land planning firm that designs housing and mixed-use environments for builders and developers. It was founded in 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa and is in its 60th year of practice.

The firm's services run from concept and schematic design, product programming and market research, and community, master and parcel planning through full architectural design, structural engineering, interior design, construction documents and construction observation. It also does density and feasibility studies, landscape and hardscape design, identity and theming packages, 3D modelling and renderings, site zoning assessments, third-party QA-QC and evaluation of value-add project designs.

Design work is organised around a charette, a three-and-a-half-day working session the firm describes as a decision accelerator rather than a workshop, and clients choose among service tiers that apply the charette at more or fewer project phases, up to a dedicated team focused on cycle time reduction. Product types include single family, multifamily, affordable, student, 55+, club design, land planning, commercial and interior design.
