Bookkeeping
Bench Accounting
Bench is an online bookkeeping service for U.S.-based businesses. A dedicated bookkeeper does the monthly books inside Bench's own software, reconciling every account transaction by transaction and producing monthly financials plus a year-end package to file from.
Onboarding starts with a 15-minute call, then a match to a bookkeeper who learns the business and its accounts, a catch-up of any past months, and clean monthly books after that. Income and costs are grouped by the kind of work a business sells so lines can be compared side by side. Bench uses read-only access to financial accounts, so transactions import but no one can move money; every bookkeeper passes a background check, completed work can be exported at any time including after a subscription ends, and books are reviewed by multiple bookkeepers each month with a year-end quality assurance review.
Bookkeeping with Bench's software is $399 a month, or $649 a month with business income tax filing and advisory. A plan for micro businesses doing $250K a year or less in revenue is $199 a month. Paying for the year saves 20%. A separate option puts a certified expert inside an existing QuickBooks Online account at $55 an hour plus a $1,200 one-time onboarding fee. Tax filing with year-round advisory is $300 a month, and returning Bench tax customers can file for $1,200 a year billed annually, with advisory calls at $250 each. Catch-up bookkeeping is free with an annual plan, and being more than a year behind is quoted flat.
Bench has operated since 2012. It paused operations in December 2024, was acquired by Employer.com within days, and resumed service in January 2025 under that ownership with its in-house team. Buyers who care about continuity should read the company's own account of that period, published on its about page, before signing.
